ASICS, which believes that ‘physical and mental health depend on planetary health’, has been running the ‘Run for Reforestation Challenge’ for the past three years – a programme that allows participants to contribute to CO₂ reduction simply by running or walking. In 2026, the event will take place from Wednesday 1 April to Thursday 30 April, coinciding with Earth Month (a month dedicated to thinking about the global environment)!
This event uses the company’s free fitness tracking app, ‘ASICS Runkeeper’. For every 5km run or walk completed, one tree is planted through ‘One Tree Planted’, an international NGO specialising in forest regeneration and ecosystem conservation.
In 2023, 50,253 people took part; in 2024, 95,950; and in 2025, 102,711, resulting in a cumulative total of approximately 250,000 trees planted in countries including the USA, Indonesia, Brazil and Portugal. This is a highly recommended initiative for anyone who is interested in environmental protection and climate change but is unsure where to start!! Now in its fourth year, the goal for this year is to reach 100,000 participants.
