The “Hari” motif jacquard series produced in Kiryu, Japan’s venerable textile capital

First recorded in the historical “Shoku Nihongi” (a compilation of imperial edicts from the early Heian period), Kiryu City in Gunma Prefecture boasts over 1,300 years of heritage as one of Japan’s foremost textile centres. For its Spring/Summer 2026 season, Blue Blue Japan features an imperishable composite jacquard fabric woven there, themed around ‘Hari’ (old name of glass or crystal).

The inherent delicate three-dimensional texture of jacquard weaving is further accentuated by using a highly elastic stretch yarn for one of the three warp threads. The ‘Glass Jacquard’ series offers variations including a zip-up jacket, trousers, and a tuxedo skirt for both men and women, arriving in stores mid-February.
