‘Ron Herman’ and 《Kijima Takayuki》 Present Their Sustainable Solution: ‘FOOD TEXTILE’

色見本

Toyo Shima, a specialist textile trading company, has launched ‘FOOD TEXTILE’ (https://foodtextile.jp/), a project that collects unused and non-standard food ingredients from food-related companies, farmers and farms, and uses their components to produce dyes . It is this new potential for tackling food waste that has caught the attention of ‘Kijima Takayuki’, the hat brand by ‘Ron Herman’, for a special commission. Despite using over 90% food-derived natural dyes, ‘FOOD TEXTILE’ meets the colour fastness standards set by JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) – an indicator of a dye’s resistance to colour fading and bleeding in textile products. Its natural hues and gentle ageing are key advantages. This minimalist capsule collection, comprising three colours of panel caps and two colours of bucket hats, proposes silhouette-conscious headwear that people genuinely want to wear and incorporate into their styling—not merely for the sake of environmental and social considerations—at this pivotal moment in the shift towards sustainability.
